Dr. Zhong-Yin Zhang is the academic co-founder of Tyligand Bioscience and Robert C. and Charlotte P. Anderson Professor in Pharmacology, and Distinguished Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at Purdue University. He also serves as the Director of Purdue Institute of Drug Discovery.
Dr. Zhang has a BS degree from Nankai University and a PhD from Purdue University. He carried out postdoctoral research at University of Michigan and the UpJohn Company, and joined the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Prior to returning to Purdue, he was the Robert A. Harris Professor and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Professor Zhang is a leading authority on protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) research. He has over 260 publications and 17 issued patents. He has been recognized as a CGP Fellow, Distinguished Science Alumni of Purdue, and Fellow of AAAS. He has been on the editorial board of the following academic journals: Chemical Biology & Drug Design, Journal of Biological Chemistry, ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters, and Molecular and Cellular Biology.
